"The War Party, part 6:
Riding In Cars With Alex (1)."
The only value of ideology is to stop things becoming showbiz.
--Brian Eno, A Year With Swollen Appendices
The next day I am in a car with Alex:

ALEX:  "They've all gone home, now.  At least the big people are.  Bush, Chretien, Blair.  I think the Africans are still here, though."

He swerves to miss a pothole.

ALEX:  "But there are still a few people marching up to Kananaskis, even as we speak they're going up there.  They were told nobody was there, now, that protesting up there is futile because it's just an empty set now, but they're still going up.  Just to make their point.  Even though there's just trees and birds and bears up there, not even any media.  No one will hear them when they go up there.  No one will see them.  They'll be invisible.  But they're still going up there.  They're still going to give it a go...."

Next:  Reverse....
