"The War Party, part 13."
"You think you're hot shit, but you're really just cold diarrhea."
-- Ralphy, Welcome to the Dollhouse.
How I spent my September 11th, a real good essay by Brian Cotts.

I woke up and then I sat around in my underwear for a long, long time and I scrached myself and then I watched some cartoons I had on DVD, and they're Japanese cartoons and they're really, really fun!  And then I had a good time feeling good because I was doing something really fun.  And then I played "It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" by R.E.M. over and over and over on my stereo, because I can do that on my stereo I can make my CD repeat itself because there's a button that does that.  That song is a really good song by R.E.M. and I like it a lot!!!  Then I turned on the tv and I saw that the people on the tv were really trying to sometimes be sad and make me feel sad and scared and sometimes they weren't sad and sometimes they looked like they might have wanted to not be talking about the horrible tragedy of September 11th that changed our world forever and ever last year.  And then sometimes the people on tv looked like they wanted other people to be sad or even angry but these other people they were interviewing about the horrible tragedy that changed our world forever and ever last year they weren't sad or angry and just wished the interviewers would go away so they could get on with their lifes!  And so then when these people being interviewed weren't sad and angry the people who were doing the interviewing got all frustrated because they wanted people to be sad and angry because that's what makes for good tv and good ratings not just getting on with your lifes which maked for bad tv and bad ratings and when ratings are bad it's hard to sell stuff!!!  And then there was a bunch of talk shows and politics shows that wanted to make me feel scared because they all thought that the terrorists were going to attack again but that's dumb because terrorists don't attack when you're expecting them because if terrorists attacked you when you're expecting them then they're not terrorists, and then I played "Burning Airlines Give You More" which is a real good song by Brian Eno and in fact I drove all over the city playing "Burning Airlines Give You More" over and over in my car and then that made me tired so I ate some yummy chocolate bars and then went to sleep and had lots of fun dreams about sex.

Next:  '60s nostalgia....
