30.EPILOGUE.73:
December 23, 2003 -- INFINITY.
"*30*."
INTERLUDE NINE: "WELCOME TO THE UNITED STATES OF AAAARRRRRRGH!!!"
If I had a rocket launcher...
I'd buy your love....
-- GW Bush
November 3, 2004.
Well, I wouldn't've voted
for him, but....
The idiots have spoken,
and, yeah, because they're idiots they've said something stupid.
But at least this time he was
elected. And even if the opposition
wants to contest the results, how do you contest both the electoral college
and the popular vote.
(But you know that the desperate
and paranoid will. And they'll behave like babies because that's
the only option for anyone now. There's no such thing as dignity
any more. On all sides.)
Well, I wouldn't've voted
for the guy, but....
People killing themselves,
actually committing suicide in protest of Bush, because they can't live
for four more years-- only 4 fucking short years-- with the man in office,
are, frankly, honestly, and in all estimations, pathetic, lame, sad, worthless,
meaningless people with meaningless lives-- individuals who are, honestly,
better off dead anyway. I mean, give me a break. George Bush
is an asshole, a moron maybe even, yes-- but to actually kill yourself
over him, honestly. All this proves is that for every idiot who believes
the ridiculous propagandistic sloughing of the Right, there is an equal
idiot on the Left believing something equally idiotic, and behaving in
an equally moronic fashion.
And sure, I wouldn't've
voted for him, but....
Packing up and leaving the
USA in protest is equally childish. It's only 4 years and when you
get right down to it, in the long run it's insignificant. I think
that people who move out of the country because of someone like Bush are
idiots. I wouldn't like to live under Bush either, but I'd cope with
it. It's only 4 more years. You people survived Regan, you
will weather Bush. 4 years is no time-- no time at all. It's
been 4 years since *30* was in its second "phase" and that seems like nothing.
It seems like a couple of weeks ago. No time has passed. So,
if you can't take 4 years of someone as meaningless as Bush, you're sad.
(Do you really want to live
your lives having a man as insignificant as George W Bush dictate your
comings and goings, where you will live? Do you want him to have
that kind of power?)
Also, it's a credit to the
histrionic hyperbole of the Left that people are comparing Bush to Hitler
and Mussolini. Yeah, okay, so a bunch of states banned Gay marriage.
But guess what? Those states would never have allowed gay marriages
under Carey, either.
The problem is no one wants
to fight for anything any more-- they just all want to get their ways right
now or they'll throw tantrums like a spanked children. And another
problem is that everybody expects change to happen over night. People
have lost sense of time and history. They watch movies were social
change happens instantly and there's happy ending. The real world
does not work this way. Satire and bad writing does. But the
real world, no. Changes are gradual. They are never overnight.
They take years and years and years and years. Decades, if not hundreds
of years. Even now.
And if changes weren't gradual,
social institutions wouldn't have any strength, any substance. And
the Left needs strength and substance (if there even is such a thing as
"left" and "right" any more-- which there isn't but so many people on this
continent still believe there is, the only thing I can do is cloak my statements
in their archaic terminology)-- if the Left want their/its idea of "freedom"
to catch on and become stable, it needs strength and substance. However,
the Left thinks the world should swing "leftly" instantly, and the Left
also wants that swing to be concrete, permanent. Unfortunately, if
society swings Left instantly, it will also swing back to Right, just as
instantly. Because in a world where social change is instant, the
changes will never stick because anything that's that easy to do instantly,
is just as easy to undo instantly. And so, if the world swings to
the "Left," to "justice" (which is actually as synonymous with the "Left"
as it is with the "Right"-- but again, cloaking my words in the bullshit
of the naive other) as quickly as the Left wants, within a few years someone
would come along and depose the rule of the Left, just as easily, and any
Leftist "reforms" would be scrapped, just as easily and instantly.
Cultural revolutions are childish pipe dreams, but they're so simplistic
they're easy to believe in and so they become charismatic.
But, anyway:
Ultimately:
Get the hell over it.
Stay in the USA. Don't behave like a bunch of fucking children.
And, frankly, I would not
have voted for the guy but when all's said and done, I'd still rather have
the United States-- even under Bush and his star chamber of corporate illuminati--
ruling the world than China, Iraq, Afghanistan, North Korea, Saudi Arabia,
Ethiopia, Russia, etc. And anyone who doesn't understand that the
options are either weaker or worse than what we've got right now, anyone
who thinks Cuba is a paradise or that Afghanistan was a wonderful place
to live before fire began plummeting from the sky, is a fucking idiot,
pure and simple.
(Once again, it's a credit
to the Left that they manage to be so close to the Right when it comes
to myopia they're almost indistinguishable, a credit that they've set up
such an absurd, unrealistic, backwards worldview and made it seem as if
the only way to be intelligent is to swallow it whole. America, at
its worst, is not and never will be, the hellhole that the Left envisions
it to be. And it's not the paradise the Right makes it out to be,
either. It's not perfect, but you've all got plenty of food and dozens
of kinds of cars to buy, so grow up. Even the poor in the USA have
it better than the poor in Afghanistan. Always have and always will.)
And yes, it's absurd that
Bush won an election based on absurd moral codes for a bygone age, and
if any other leader in any other world government would have run on a Christian
platform he would have been laughed out of the election-- but this just
goes to show how ultimately backwards and stupid the Rightwing American
public is. And the hemp-cloaked Left is just as backwards, subscribes
to equally backward thinking.
The only good thing that
might come out of this is that Bush is pro-Big Business and it looks like
Big Business is getting interested in space travel. So maybe under
Bush huge strides towards interstellar exploration-- or even a trip or
two to Mars-- might be possible.
And if you don't understand
how badly we need to get off this planet, or why we need to get off this
planet, go back to eating your granola bars and sleeping in your logs and
fighting your laughable culture war, go back to whipping your backs in
front of Jesus and setting fire to the heathens and fighting your retarded
holy war.
